02. Brief and Goals

NEER was created in response to a changing social landscape. Following COVID-19 and the #MeToo movement, many people reported feeling less confident approaching others in real life and more cautious about personal safety.
The product aimed to:
Restore confidence in in-person interaction
Prioritise safeguarding and consent
Reduce the performative nature of swipe-based platforms
Encourage real-world participation through events and rewards
The challenge was designing an experience that balanced trust, friction, and discovery without feeling restrictive or overly complex.
